🪱 DIY Worm Chow Recipe (Basic & Effective)

Worm Chow

🧂DIY Worm Chow Recipe Ingredients:

  • Oats (rolled or ground) – 2 parts
  • Cornmeal or ground corn – 1 part
  • Powdered eggshells (or garden lime) – ½ part (for calcium and pH balance)
  • Dry brewer’s yeast or nutritional yeast – ¼ part (protein and B vitamins)
  • Optional: Wheat flour or branalfalfa mealrice hulls, or ground seeds

🥣 Worm Chow Recipe Instructions:

  • Grind all ingredients into a fine powder using a food processor, coffee grinder, or blender (especially the oats and eggshells).
  • Mix thoroughly and store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
  • Sprinkle lightly on top of worm bedding — about 1 tablespoon per square foot of surface area.
  • Mist with water after applying to prevent dust and help it break down faster.

⚠️ Feeding Tips:

  • Feed small amounts — too much can spoil and create anaerobic conditions.
  • Only re-feed when the previous feeding has been mostly consumed.
  • Monitor worm bin moisture and ventilation — worm chow is dry and can increase heat or odor if overused.
